Gareth Turner, is the founder of Big Black Door, a marketing strategy consultancy that heps ambitious food and drink brands get clarity before they spend.

A former Marketing Director at Arla Foods, and Head of Marketing at Weetabix, Gareth has led the long-term brand strategy for some of the UK’s most recognisable grocery brands. Over a 25-year career in FMCG, he has grown household name brands like John Smith’s, Bulmers, Lurpak and Arla, in both UK and global roles.

His career highlights include launching Bulmers fruit ciders, creating the FA partnership with Weetabix, buying a racehorse for John Smith’s, and leading the multi award-winning “Beanz on Bix” campaign that broke the internet.

Today, through Big Black Door, Gareth works with scaling and established food and drink brands to sharpen positioning, strengthen briefs and build marketing strategies that unlock growth. His clients include Merry Hill Shopping Centre, Harbour Brewing, Spoon Cereals, Whyte & Mackay, Sauce Shop, Little Freddie, Jackson’s Bakery and Fentimans.

He is also a Non-Executive Director at Route, a Newcastle-based media agency, a regular contributor to Marketing Week, and a keynote speaker at events including MAD//Fest, Digital Marketing World Forum, Prolific North and The Marketing Meetup.
